Showcase House Master Bathroom - Green it UP!

Our project with Knight Construction Design Inc which was featured in this years Spring Twin Cities Remodelers Showcase was a very fun project to work on.  The clients were outstanding! Not only were they open to design ideas, they also were excited about ways to "green" their space and save energy.

Their master bathroom is a great example of how "average" homeowners can do simple things to be more energy efficient and still be beautiful!  The large shower was equiped with a separate hand-held shower head on it's own valve.  This allows for the homeowners to use this for washing the dog, simple personal maintenance and cleaning.  The vent fan is the Panasonic WhisperGreen which runs on a motion detector allowing for quiet use and energy efficiency.  Of coarse, the new windows are dual-pane and Low-E.  Brookhaven cabinets were used to build the vanity and the mirror/storage unit.  Cambria tops with GreenGuard was also used for the top, bench and shower ledge.

Along with the "standard" items, this bathroom also includes a few luxury features...cross-cut stone on the floor and walls as well as a stone mosaic provide a unique, beachy feel. A steam unit in the shower with a bench to enjoy and in-floor heat for those cold winter mornings!

Thank you to the family for allowing us to work on such a great project

A Plymouth Project

Before From Kitchen Before From Dining Room

I had the pleasure of working with Tom and Michele on their first floor remodel last fall.  They hired Knight Construction Design Inc. of Chanhassen, MN to remodel their kitchen and family room as well as add a small addition to the laundry/mudroom.  During the process of the project we also updated the powder room, painted all of the walls and trim and added new oak floors throughout.

The family has a young son getting ready to start school next fall and wanted to make the space more open and more usable for their lifestyle.  We were able to remove the wall the had separated the formal dining room with the kitchen (although the project was delayed by the discovery of unexpected plumbing in the walls).  The removal of this wall allowed for us to design a unique island as well as move the door to the mudroom.

2009 Spring Remodelers Showcase Twin Cities a Successss

Thank you to all of you who came through our featured home.  In case you missed it, here is some information for you.

“Thank you Knight Construction for doing a wonderful job on our house.  We felt you met and often exceeded our expectations.  Gary really took the time to listen to what we wanted from the project.  The crew that worked here was very professional, and courteous.  Jeff Harrison, our project manager, was at the house almost everyday and days he was not here was always accessible by phone.  Michelle Drenckhahn, our Interior Designer, was a terrific help in the design aspect of the project.  She also really listened to our ideas and helped us make some excellent design choices.  Everyone was respectful of our lives, home, and concerns.  We are extremely happy with the finished project and would recommend the team to everyone!”  - Homeowners of 2009 Remodelers Showcase House
